According to the section 63B of the act of software copyright in India a person may be termed for a minimum seven days of jail. The jail term in such case may even extend up to 3 years. In most of the cases where software piracy is involved the individuals are dealt with strict measures.

Software piracy has been hampering the revenue generation of the software developing firms and it also adversely affects the users of pirated softwares.
